The time has come to say goodbye and thank all who have visited, helped with Work Parties and supported Manor Fisheries over the past 15 years to create an enjoyable and friendly environment.

The new owners are planning the fishery/accommodation will continue running closely along the present lines with every reservation being honoured.

We will miss you all and wish you all well.

Fishing Report – 1st September 2023 to 28th September 2023

With this late warm summer many anglers have experienced great catches and new PB’s including raising both the 2023 Carp and Catfish Leader Boards. The following “Records” from 11th March onwards, are based on angler reports recorded in the Cabin logbook. Congratulations to all those anglers who set new PB’s and featured in all three 2023 Leader Boards @ the Leader Board.

Lake 1 (Carp) Logbook Catch Reports

As a result of repeated winter feeding (and better reporting?) this season has seen the number of 20’s increase significantly with the month of May being exceptional:

The unusually hot September weather has brought the Carp onto the feed which has created exceptional results including a new 2023 Carp Leader Board contender. Well done to Danny Smith – see below.

• During a 3-day break arriving the 1st September, Patrick Carrick, Declan Moore and Matthew O’Toole all had great catches including weights of:

  • Patrick – 5 x Commons from 12lbs 8ozs to 18lbs 8oz

  • Declan – Commons of 17lbs 4ozs PB and 13lbs 2oz

  • Matthew – 10lbs PB Commo

• Robert and Jacqueline Hanson arrived for a break on the 2nd September and were soon into the Carp with weights of

• It was a Red Letter Day for regular Ken Darvill on the 5th September when he landed 22 x Carp including weights of:

  • Commons – 19lbs, 2 x 16lbs, 15lbs, 2 x 14lbs, 11lbs 15ozs, 11lbs 8ozs, 3 x 11lbs, 2 x 10lbs and 9lbs

  • Mirror – 21lbs, 14lbs, 13lbs, 11lbs, 10lbs 8ozs, 10lbs, 9lbs and 8lbs 8ozs.

• Steve O’Neill returned on the 6th September and using yellow corn bait caught 11 x Carp weighing from 10lbs to 18lbs.

• When returning on the 7th September Ray Hanson landed 4 x Carp including Commons weighing 14lbs 10ozs, 13lbs 8ozs and 10lbs 3ozs plus a 11lbs 4ozs Mirror.

• Graeme Holmes arrived on the 9th September for a short break and landed 36 x Carp weighing from 12lbs to 22lbs 9ozs (including 2 x 20’s) using Mainline link baits. Three were taken off the top using bread.

• Regular Danny Smith arrived on the 14th September for 36-hours which became a Red-Letter session landing 18 x Carp to top the 2023 Carp Leader Board with a 24lbs Mirror (one of 3 x 20’s) including weights of:

  • Commons – 19lbs 2ozs, 18lbs 2ozs, 18lbs, 17lbs 12ozs, 16lbs 8ozs, 16lbs 4ozs, 2 x 16lbs 2ozs, 15lbs, 14lbs 2ozs and 10lbs 4ozs.

  • Mirrors – 24lbs, 22lbs 8ozs, 20lbs 2ozs, 17lbs 8ozs, 15lbs 8ozs, 12lbs 8ozs and 12lbs.

• Bernie and Tracy Day visited on the 15th September when Bernie landed 2 x Commons weighing 13lbs and 12lbs plus a 15lbs Mirror and Tracy had a 13lbs Common.  

• Steve O’Neill returned on the 16th September and using sweetcorn baits landed 3 x low doubles Carp.

• Regular Terry Hare visited on the 18th September and using pacific tuna boilie baits landed 6 x Carp including Commons weighing 16lbs 8ozs, 14lbs 12ozs and 11lbs plus Mirrors of 15lbs 6ozs, 13lbs 4ozs and 10lbs 8ozs.

• Returning on the 19th September, regular Adrian Burton used pacific tuna boilie baits and had successes in landing 7 x Commons to 17lbs 9ozs plus 4 x mirrors to 16lbs 6ozs.

• Roger Simmons returned on the 21st September and landed 5 x Carp including Commons weighing 15lbs, 12lbs, 10lbs and 8lbs plus a 10lbs Mirror.

• Regulars Chris Cook and Paul Lewis arrived on the 20th September for a 5-day session and using Mainline link boilie baits had great success landing 65 x Carp including weights of:

  • Chris – 33 x Carp from 9lbs 1ozs to 17lbs

  • Paul – 32 x Carp from 10lbs 2ozs to 21lbs 4ozs.

• During a visit arriving 22nd September; Chris Batten used sticky manilla and tutti shrimp boilie baits to catch:

  • 10 x Commons weighing from 11lbs to 16lbs 8ozs.

  • 2 x Mirrors weighing from 12lbs 7ozs to 15lbs 6ozs.

• Returning on the 26th September for a 60-hour session, regulars Terry Keard plus Roy and Andrew Simpson all had a good results landing 47 x Carp including weights of:

• Stephen O’Neill and David Golding visited on the 30th September and using sweetcorn and boilie baits landed 13 x Carp weighing from 12lbs to 17lbs.

Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) Logbook Catch Reports

• During a 3-day break arriving the 1st September, Sonny and Mitchell France plus Lee Collins all had great catches including weights of:

  • Cats - 30lbs – Sonny PB, 22lbs, 19lbs – Lee PB and 7lbs 6ozs

  • Mirrors from 12lbs to 22lbs

  • 5 x Commons from 12lbs to 20lbs

• Returning on the 16th September for a 36-hour session and using 21mm halibut pellet baits, their catch included Cats of 24lbs and 12lbs plus Commons and Mirrors weighing from 12lbs to 20lbs.

• Returning again on the 30th September for a 36-hour session, resulted in 8 x Carp ranging from 12lbs to 17lbs for Sonny and Cats weighing 20lbs, 16lbs and 12lbs for Mitchell.

• Paul Black visited with grandson Daniel on the 5th September and both had successes including

  • Paul – Cats weighing 34lbs 6ozs and 16lbs 6ozs on 20nn halibut pellet baits

  • Daniel – Commons weighing 15lbs and 10lbs using Cell boilie baits.

• It was the welcome return of Gary and Christine Hilton, who after two years arrived for a break on the 9th September and he was soon landing Cats where large “Mack Attack” pellet baits (www.catfishbait.co.uk) was the successful bait:

  • 9th Sep – Gary who is a member of “Mad Catters” started with catching a 25lbs Cat which was followed by weights of 47lbs and 53lbs (a new lake record) to become the winner of the 2023 Catfish Leader Board

  • 10th Sep – the day started by creating another new lake record of 58lbs followed by Cat weights of 24lbs and 30lbs.

  • 11th Sep – Cats of 25lbs, 13lbs and 10lbs plus a 11lbs Common

  • 12th Sep – Cats of 35lbs, 33lbs and 16lbs plus Commons of 2 x 12lbs, 10lbs, 9lbs and 8lbs.

  • 13th Sep – 12lbs Cat

  • 14th Sep – 21lbs Cat and a 13lbs Carp

  • 15th Sep – Cats of 33lbs, 20lbs, 18lbs, 16lbs and 14lbs plus Carp of 10lbs and 7lbs.

Lake 3 (Mixed) Logbook Catch Reports

• Arriving for a 3-day break on the 1st September, Neil Whitaker was successful in landing 16 x Carp (Commons and Mirrors) weighing from 5lbs to 9lbs plus Tench and Bream.

• Visiting on the 2nd September David Odds and son Joshua both had success including weights of:

  • David – 5 x Commons from 5lbs to 11lbs

  • Joshua – 3 x Commons from 5lbs to 11lbs, a 7lbs Mirror, 3 x Bream and 2 x Rudd.

• Returning for a short break of the 4thSeptember, both Brian Madden and Len Chapman has great catches including:

  • 4th Sep

    • Brian – 10 x Carp to 8lbs plus 3 x Tench

    • Len – 13 x Carp to 8lbs plus 3 x Tench and a Rudd on sweetcorn using a method feeder.

  • 5th Sep

    • Brian – 16 x Carp and a Tench

    • Len – 14 x Carp to 8lbs plus 2 x Tench and 2 x Bream on sweetcorn.

  • 6th Sep

    • Brian – 7 x Carp from 2lbs to 7lbs on a method feeder

    • Len – 20 x Carp to 9lbs, 1 x Tench and 1 x Bream float fishing using sweetcorn bait.

  • 7th Sep

    • Brian – 10 x Carp to 8lbs

    • Len – 15 x Carp to 9lbs and 2 x Tench to 3lbs float fishing with sweetcorn bait.

• Arriving on a lovely warm 12th September Gary Jennings used luncheon meat (with a yellow pop-up) bait and had great success landing 10 x Commons and 7 x Mirrors weighing from 4lbs to 10lbs plus 2 x Bream.

• Regular Martin Crease visited on the 16th September and had a great Mixed catch including:

  • 18 x Commons to 10lbs 8ozs

  • 4 x Mirrors to 8lbs

  • A 3lbs Bream and a 2 lbs Tench

• Gary Zweck had a great catch when he returned on the 22nd September and using a method feeder/waggler technique plus a variety of baits including Robin Red, bread and pacific tuna boilie; landed:

  • 18x Commons to 8lbs 1oz

  • 10 x Mirrors to 7lbs 8ozs

  • 3 x Tench to 3lbs 1oz

• Returning on the 24th September; Tony Osbourne used pellet baits with his feeder rod to land 17 x Commons.

• Regular Andrew Matcham returned on the 25th September and using a method feeder landed 16 x Carp including weights of:

  • 7 x Commons to 11lbs 9ozs

  • 9 x Mirrors to 8lbs

Manor Fisheries is changing hands.

After 14+ wonderful years residing at Manor Fisheries and now being in my 81st year, we will be leaving for pastures new on the 25th September. Only the ownership is changing, and all the fishery/accommodation will continue running closely along the present lines with every reservation being honoured.

Over the past years we have enjoyed meeting hundreds of visitors and many have become friends that we always look forward to meeting. Our sincere thanks to all those that have visited, helped with Work Parties and supported Manor Fisheries to create an enjoyable and friendly environment.

Our retirement is approaching soon when we can spend more time with family and travelling. In addition, Rhonda is looking forward to playing more music while I can plan to fish a little more often.

• Danny Smith arrived on the 31st July for his 60-hour visit and had a superb session landing 13x Carp and 6 x Mirrors that included 4 x 20’s to 23lbs.  

• Returning on the 1st August, regulars Chris and Steven Mundy landed 11 x Carp including weights of:

  • Steven – 7 x Carp from 10lbs 5ozs to 14lbs.

  • Chris – 4 x Carp ranging from 12lbs to 17lbs.

• Regular Terry Hare returned on the 2nd August and had a great session using pacific tuna boilie baits and landed 10 x Carp including weights of

  • Commons – 14lbs 8ozs, 13lbs 4ozs, 13lbs, 11lbs 4ozs, 10lbs 8ozs, 10lbs 4ozs and 2 x 9lbs 8ozs.

• Visiting on the 3rd August Adrian Burton landed Commons weighing 17lbs and 10lbs plus a 13lbs 4os Mirror where pacific tuna boilie was the successful bait.

• David Hulse returned on the 4th August and as his visit was ending landed a 9lbs 6ozs Mirror.

• Simon Rasho and daughter Abigail arrived on the 5th August for 36-hours and using yellow Scopex squid boilie baits with pop-ups landed 5 x Commons and 2 x Mirrors including a 16lbs 9ozs PB Mirror for Abigail.

• During a short visit arriving the 9th August Roy Prout landed Mirrors weighing 10lbs 7ozs and 9lbs 7ozs using Scopex squid boilie baits Commons weighing 16lbs 1oz, 13lbs 9ozs and 12lbs 4ozs using maple boilie baits.

• Colin and Christine Holder returned for a short break on the 12th of August and using krill and manilla boilie baits caught 20 x Carp including weights of:

  • Christine – 8 x Commons from 8lbs to 16lbs plus a 11lbs 8ozs Mirror.

  • Colin – 9 x Commons from 11lbs 8ozs to 19lbs plus 3 x Mirrors from 1lbs 8ozs to 18lbs.

• Peter Austen returned on the 16th August and using banoffee boilie baits caught a 10lbs 4ozs Mirror.

• It was a “double 20” for Paul and Trevor Lewis who began their 48-hour session on the 18th August and landed 13 x Carp including weights of:

  • Paul – 6 x Carp from 12lbs 8ozs to 20lbs 4ozs

  • Trevor – 7 x Carp from 11lbs 12ozs to 20lbs 8ozs

• Arriving on the 18th August for a 48-hour session, Chris Cook used Mainline Link baits to land 10 x Carp weighing from 10lbs to 18lbs.

• Stephen O’Neill returned on the 20rh August and using sweetcorn finished with 5 x low double Carp.

• Regular Tony Cook visited on the 21st August and using squid and octopus boilie baits landed 5 x Commons weighing 19lbs, 17lbs 4ozs, 13lbs 10ozs and 2 x 12lbs 8ozs plus Mirrors of 15lbs 2ozs, 14lbs and 11lbs 4ozs.

• Nigel Hidson returned on the 23rd August and using pacific tuna boilie baits landed 7 x Carp including 6 x Commons from 9lbs to 13lbs 8ozs and a 8lbs Mirror.

• Using Cell and pacific tuna boilie baits, regular Adrian Burton landed 17 x Carp including 10 x Commons to 14lbs 4ozs and 7 x Mirrors to 15lbs.

• Arriving for a short break on the 26th August, Sandra and Carl Nevill plus Mark Pearson were into the Carp:

• Duncan and Louie Amory arrived on the 4th August for a 24-hour session and landed 3 x Cat including:

• Tony Cook returned on the 6th August and using halibut pellet baits caught a 24lbs 4ozs Cat.

• Brian Bailey and colleague Nick, arrived on the 14th August for 48-hours and using halibut pellet and luncheon meat baits landed 4 x Cats including weights of:

  • Brian – 30lbs plus 2 x small Carp

  • Nick – 36lbs, 19lbs 17lbs plus 2 x small Carp

• Ian Cranstone and Johnny Theron arrived on the 21st August for a relaxing 4-day break and using 28m halibut pellet and 20mm squid boilie baits had successes with the Cats and Carp – including some a nuisance Carp (typically 2lbs to 5lbs) and the subject of our winter removal program, with weights of:

    • Harry – 12 x Commons from 2lbs 5ozs to 8lbs and 3lbs 4ozs Bream.

    • Paul – Commons weighing 6lbs 3ozs and 5lbs 4lbs plus a 2lbs 13ozs Bream.

  • 4th Aug

    • Harry – 5 x Commons from 3lbs 10ozs to 8lbs 1oz plus several Rudd and Roach.

    • Paul – 18 x Carp from 3lbs 15ozs to 8lbs 8ozs plus a 2lbs 8ozs Tench and Rudd.

• Andrew Matcham returned on the 7th August and using a method feeder finished with 19 x Commons to 9lbs 8ozs plus 5 x Mirrors to 7lbs. And again, on the 10th August with a catch of 7 x Commons and 1 x Mirror weighing from 4lbs to 8lbs plus half-a-dozen Rudd.

• Dominic Minney and Jessica Wood arrived on the 8th August and float fishing with luncheon meat baits landed 4 x Commons and 2 x Mirrors ranging in weight from 3lbs to 6lbs. They then moved to Lake 1 (Carp) for 24-hours and using manilla boilie baits with pop-ups landed a further 14 x Carp including weights of:

  • Dominic – 5 x Commons from 10lbs 11ozs to 16lbs 11ozs

  • Jessica – 3 x Commons from 11lbs 2ozs to 13lbs 15ozs plus 6 x Mirrors from 9lbs 5ozs to 19lbs 13ozs.

• Returning on the 10th August Peter Wanless used toffee pellet baits and landed Commons weighing 10lbs and 8lbs plus 5 x Mirrors from 5lbs to 7lbs.

• David Evans visited on the 17th August and using a method feeder with luncheon meat and pellet baits, caught 2 x Commons to 3lbs 8ozs, 2 x Tench of 2lbs each plus a 2lbs Bream.

• Regular Roger Simmons returned on the 17th August and landed 4 x Commons weighing 8lbs, 6lbs and 2 x 2lbs 8ozs plus 40+ Rudd and Perch.

• Returning on the 17th August, when Peter Wanless accompanied by Grandson Harry, they used toffee pellet baits to finish with a catch including 13 x Carp (Commons and Mirrors) weighing from 5lbs to 11lbs.

• Garry Blunt and Garry Ford arrived for a short break on the 18th of August and their catch included:

  • 18th Aug – 12 x Carp from 2lbs to 8lbs, a 3lbs 4ozs Bream, a 3lbs Tench, Perch and 15 x Rudd.

  • 19th Aug – 15 x Carp from 1lb to 8lbs, 2 x Tench each 2lbs 8ozs, Perch and 20 x Rudd

  • 20th Aug – 23 x Carp from 3lbs to 8lbs 8ozs and a 2lbs 8ozs Tench

  • 21st Aug – 15 x Carp from 5lbs to 8lbs 8ozs, a 2lbs 8ozs Tench and 14 x Rudd

• Gary Zweck and son Jacob visited on the 19th August and their mixed catch included weights of:

  • 11 x Commons from 3lbs to 8lbs

  • 2 x Mirrors of 4lbs and 5lbs

  • 2 x Bream of 3lbs and 2lbs 8ozs

  • Tench of 3lbs 2ozs

• Andrew Matcham returned on the 25th August and using a method feeder finished with 12 x Commons to 11lbs 9ozs, 4 x Mirrors to 8lbs, 3 x Tench to 4lbs 4ozs and 6 x Rudd. On the 30th August Andrew had another good catch including 15 x Commons to 9lbs 4ozs plus 6 x Mirrors to 8lbs.

• Paul and Trevor Lewis began their 60-hour session on the 30th June and finished witt:

  • Paul – 18 x Carp to 17lbs 13ozs

  • Trevor – 6 x Carp ranging from 8lbs to 15lbs.

• Regular Terry Hare returned on the 4th July and using pacific tuna boilie baits caught 3 x Mirrors weighing 17lbs, 15lbs 12ozs and 14lbs 8ozs.

• David Furness visited on the 5th July and using Activ8 baits caught a 10lbs Common which was followed by a 16lbs Common using krill plus crab pop-up baits.

• Visiting on the 6th July regular Peter Austen landed a 17lbs 6ozs Mirror

• Returning on the 11th July, regulars Terry Keard and Roy Simpson has a great session and landed 33 x Carp weighing:

  • Roy used pacific tuna and krill boilie baits over his 36-hour session.

• Returning on the 17th July, Tony Cook used hot tuna boilie baits and finished with 5 x Commons weighing 19lbs 10ozs, 18lbs 8ozs, 14lbs 10ozs, 14lbs 4ozs and 12lbs 2ozs.

• Regular Adrian Burton visited on the 17th July and using Cell and krill boilie baits finished with 11 x Carp including weights of:

  • Commons – 17lbs 8ozs, 14lbs 12ozs, 13lbs 8ozs, 13lbs 4ozs, 12lbs 6ozs and 11lbs 7ozs.

• Visiting on the 22nd July during very unsettled weather, David Hodge landed Commons weighing 15lbs and 11lbs 8ozs.

• Steve Barrow visited on the 22nd July and used krill wafter baits to catch Commons weighing 11lbs 12ozs and 10lbs 8ozs.

• Regular Terry Hare returned again on the 25th July and using pacific tuna boilie baits caught 5 x Carp including Commons weighing 15lbs, 11lbs 12ozs and 10lbs 4ozs plus 12lbs 4oz and 9lbs Mirrors and again an 8ozs Roach.

• Visiting on the 27th July, Timothy Day landed a 10lbs 10ozs Common using luncheon meat baits.

• Regulars Chris Batten and Chris Cook returned on the 28th July for a 60-hour session and had great success landing 50 x Carp including weights of:

  • Chris Batten – 15 x Commons from 10lbs to 17lbs and 7 x Mirrors from 11lbs to 16lbs on Scopex squid and Manilla boilie baits.

  • Chris Cook – 28 x Carp from 10lbs to 18lbs on tutti frutti and shrimp boilie baits.

• Dean Nixon visited on the 29th July and using squid boilie baits land 5 x Commons weighing 12lbs 10ozs, 12lbs 8ozs, 12lbs 7ozs, 12lbs 2lbs and 8lbs.

• Sean and Bob Holman returned on the 31st August when their 11 x Carp catch included weights of:

  • Sean – Using king prawn boilie baits, Commons of 15lbs, 13lbs and 10lbs 6ozs plus Mirrors of 13lbs 5ozs and 12lbs.

  • Bob – Using pineapple sour boilie baits, Commons of 18lbs 4ozs, 16lbs, 14lbs 2ozs, 10lbs 14ozs, 9lbs and 7lbs.

Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) Logbook Catch Reports

• Arriving on the 30th June for their 36-hour visit, Domonic Minney had a great start to the month with a 32lbs 2ozs PB Cat plus a kitten and 2 x 5lbs Carp while partner Jess also landed a 5lbs Carp.

• Arriving on the 1st July for a short break David Gardner targeted the Cats using 21mm halibut pellet baits:

  • 2nd July – 16lbs 10ozs Cat and 4 x smaller Commons

  • 3rd July – 9lbs 6ozs Cat on 15mm double krill and 3 x Commons on pellet

• Mark Young and Frank Shaxted arrived on the 3rd July for a short break and using halibut pellet and squid baits plus pop-ups successfully targeted the Cats with catches weighing

  • Cats – 36lbs, 34lbs, 31lbs 30lbs, 23lbs, 20lbs 8ozs, 17lbs, 14lbs 1oz, 13lbs 12ozs and 3 x kittens

  • Commons – 13lbs 6ozs, 12lbs 1oz plus five from 4lbs to 7lbs 8ozs

  • Carp – 12lbs, 11lbs 8ozs, 11lbs and 6 x small Carp

• It was 6 x Cats for Sean and Bob Holman when they visited on the 17th July and using halibut pellet and Robin Red baits their catches included weights of:

  • Sean – Cats of 34lbs 12ozs, 15lbs, 12lbs, 9lbs and 8lbs pls 2 x 6lbs Carp

  • Bob – Cat of 18lbs 6oz

• Bernie and Tracy Day visited on the 19th July and their catch included weights of:

  • Tracy – Cats of 26lbs, 24lbs and 17lbs plus a small Carp

  • Bernie – Carp of 10lbs, 2 x 9lbs and 8lbs.

• Regular Gary Vaughan and son Freddie returned on the 20th July for their 36-hour session and finished with catches including weights of:

• During a short break when arriving on the 28th July, Kevin Ahern used krill boilie baits and caught a 22lbs 10ozs Catfish plus 7 x Commons weighing from 2lbs to 12lbs.

• Regulars Graham and Tina Payne returned on the 2nd July when their catch included 10 x Carp weighing from 3lbs to 10lbs plus a 3lbs Bream.

• Gary Zweck together with his two young sons had a good session on the 2nd July landing 8 x Commons ranging from 4lbs to 7lbs plus a 4lbs Mirror and a 3lbs 7ozs Bream.

• Visiting on the 4th July, Roger Simmons landed 3 x Tench each weighing 2lbs, 3 x Commons weighing 8lbs, 3lbs and 2lbs plus 50+ Rudd.

• Returning on the 6th July Andrew Matcham landed 18 x Commons to 9lbs plus 3 x Mirrors to 7lbs.

This month eight tangled lines were removed from the Lake 1 (Carp) island vegetation including the DEATH rig below:

This dangerous bolt rig is completely unacceptable and any angler using this setup will be banned without refund, redress or appeal.

• Robin Red plus Fjuka Wafter baits proved successful when David Hulse visited on the 1st June and landed Commons weighing 16lbs and 13lbs 8ozs.

• Regulars Terry Keard and Roy Simpson returned with success on the 2nd June:

  • Terry – Commons weighing 12lbs and 10lbs 4ozs.

  • Roy – a 8lbs 2ozs Cat which was safely relocated to Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish).

• Regulars Danny and Mark Donnelly arrived on the 2nd June for a 36-hour session and landed 6 x Carp including weights of;

  • Danny – Commons of 19lbs, 17lbs and 15lbs 4ozs where krill boilies proved a successful bait.

  • Mark – 2 x 15lbs Commons and a 12lbs 3ozs Mirror on CC Moore pacific tuna boilie baits.

• Visiting on the 5th June Steve Mundy used bloodworm boilie plus orange pop-up baits and landed 3 x Commons weighing 18lbs, 14lbs and 12lbs.

• Returning on the 6th June, Terry Hare landed 3 x Commons weighing 19lbs 4ozs, 17lbs and 12lbs plus a fully scaled Mirror weighing 19lbs 12ozs when the successful bait was pacific tuna boilies.

• Jessica Wood returned on the 7th June and using manilla boilie with corn pop-up baits landed a 10lbs Common and a 12lbs fully scaled Mirror.

• It was Commons all the way for Nigel Hidson, who visited on the 8th June, with weights of 17lbs 10ozs, 17lbs, 14lbs, 12lbs 8ozs, 11lbs and 9lbs using pacific tuna boilie baits.

• It was a most successful family occasion when arriving for a short break on the 9th June. Whilst experiencing warm weather and sunshine, Giles and young son Teddy, both raised their PB’s several times and all three generations made great catches:

    • Commons weighing – 18lbs 12ozs, 17lbs 10ozs, 16lbs 11ozs, 15lbs 9ozs, 15lbs 7ozs, 14lbs 15ozs, 14lbs 10ozs, 12lbs 13ozs, 12lbs 8ozs, 11lbs 6ozs, 11lbs 5ozs, 10lbs 14ozs, 10lbs 13ozs, 1olbs 8ozs and 10lbs 6ozs

    • Mirrors weighing – 17lbs 10ozs, 12lbs 4ozs and 10lbs 13ozs

  • Giles Honey – 8 x Carp using krill boilie baits

    • Commons weighing – 18lbs 7ozs PB, 18lbs 6ozs, 17lbs 6ozs, 15lbs 7ozs, 14lbs 11ozs, 11lbs 8ozs and 10lbs 3ozs

    • Mirror weighing – 12lbs 9ozs

    • Mirrors weighing – 16lbs 5ozs PB and 10lbs 7ozs

• Shaun and Steve Collins visited on the 11th June and caught 3 x Commons with weights of 20lbs, 14lbs and 12lbs.

• Arriving for a short break on the 13th June, Roy Prout had success using krill boilie baits landing 8 x Carp including Commons weighing 15lbs 15ozs, 14lbs 8ozs, 12lbs 12ozs, 12lbs 5ozs, 10lbs 8ozs, 9lbs 8ozs and 8lbs 7ozs plus a 10lbs 2ozs Mirror.

• The Carp were keen on the pacific tuna boilie baits that Terry Hare used on the 14th June when his catch of 9 x Carp included weights of:

  • Commons – 14lbs 12ozs, 12lbs 4ozs, 12lbs, 11lbs 12ozs, 2 x 10 lbs 8ozs and 8lbs

  • Mirrors – 12lbs and 11lbs 4ozs

• Regular Terry Hare returned on the 21st June and using pacific tuna boilie baits landed 3 x Commons weighing 14lbs 4ozs, 13lbs 4ozs and 10lbs 12ozs.

• Reg Miller visited on the 22nd June and landed 10 x Carp including weights of:

  • Commons – 19lbs 4ozs, 15lbs, 14lbs, 12lbs 8ozs, 11lbs 8ozs and 10lbs 8ozs

  • Mirrors – 19lbs, 18lbs 6ozs and 12lbs 4ozs

• Danny Donnelly led the way using DNA baits when visiting on the 24th June:

  • Danny Donnelly – Commons weighing 15lbs 8ozs, 13lbs, 12lbs, 10lbs and 8lbs

  • Kevin Donnelly – a 10lbs Common

  • Mark Donnelly – a 14lbs 8ozs Common

  • Trent Chandler – a 10lbs Mirror

• Regular David Hare returned on the 25th June for a 24-hour session and landed 5 x Carp weighing from 10lbs to 12lbs.

• Returning on the 28th June, Tony Cook used squid and octopus boilie baits and landed 8 x Commons weighing 19lbs 2ozs, 13lbs 8ozs, 12lbs 2ozs, 11lbs 10ozs, 11lbs 9ozs, 11lbs 2ozs, 9lbs 8ozs and 8lbs 12ozs plus 11lbs 8ozs Mirror.

• Using krill wafter baits on the 29th June, Steve Barrow landed 3 x Commons weighing 17lbs 8ozs, 16lbs 8ozs and 9lbs.

Try Tying your Own

Several Cats have been lost due to the straightening of poor-quality hooks. Hooks for Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) should be barbless and forged (not wire or Cat hooks). A strong hook with a larger eye than most brands (good for making hair rigs); that is competitively priced, can be sourced from Wicked Rigs (Hand Made in the UK).

Tying your own hair rig or hook length gives a greater sense of achievement compared to using a pre-made “packaged” version and should be more reliable than some of the expensive “packaged” offerings generally available.

Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) Logbook Catch Reports

• During the last day of a short break, Ray Margiotta used halibut pellet baits to catch a 31lbs 8ozs Cat on the 2nd June.

• Arriving on the 2nd June for a short break Gary Edwards and Tim Hayman began fishing on Lake 3 (Mixed) and then successfully targeted the Cats on Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish):

  • Lake 3 – 6 x Carp t0 8lbs, a 3lbs Bream and a 2lbs 8ozs Tench.

  • Lake 2 – 7 x Cats weighing 38lbs, 31lbs, 23lbs, 19lbs, 15lbs, 10lbs and 6lbs.

• Regular Tony Cook returned on the 5th June and landed 6 x Cats weighing 27lbs 12ozs, 25lbs, 21lbs 5ozs, 19lbs 14ozs, 8lbs 14ozs and 7lbs 8ozs plus 2 x small Commons weighing 5lbs 5ozs and 4lbs 2ozs.

• Paul and Joe Napthine plus Ben Wells, returned (10th year) with success and glorious sunshine on the 8th June for a 36-hour session when their catch included:

  • Ben – 28lbs 9ozs Cat

  • Joe – 14lbs Cat

  • Paul – 20lbs Common on halibut pellet

• With the temperature in the high 20’s regular Peter Smith visited on the 10th June and using boilie and trout pellet baits landed 3 x Cats weighing 38lbs 2ozs PB, 31lbs 15ozs and 17lbs 6ozs plus 2 x small Commons of 6lbs and 4lbs.

• When regular Paul Coombes visited on the 12th June it was only 6 x Kittens that were feeding on his Prawn and Chrizo baits and the weights were 16lbs 8ozs, 15lbs, 13lbs, 10lbs and 7lbs.

• Jayne and Barry Nicholls arrived for a short break on the 12th June and had many successes fishing all three lakes using garlic and krill boilie baits:

  • 12th – Like 1 (Carp)

    • Commons weighing 20lbs 5ozs, 20lbs 2ozs, 19lbs 4ozs, 16lbs 7ozs, 15lbs 6ozs, 12lbs 14ozs, 11lbs 8ozs, 11lbs 5ozs, 10lbs 3ozs and 8lbs plus a 17lbs Mirror.

  • 13th – Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish)

    • Cats weighing 30lbs, 18lbs 6ozs, 18lbs 2ozs, 18lbs and 11lbs.

  • 14th – Lake 3 (Mixed)

    • Commons weighing 11lbs 12ozs, 6lbs, 4lbs, 3lbs and 2lbs plus 2 x 3lbs Bream

  • 14th – Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish)

    • Cats weighing 36lbs 5ozs and 16lbs 4ozs

  • 15th – Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish)

    • Cats weighing 19lbs 2ozs and 8lbs 6ozs

• Chris Pourou and son Theo plus Jason Chamberlain arrived on the 16th June for 24-hours when their catch included Cats of 33lbs 12ozs, 22lbs and 4 x kittens together with 4 x Carp.

• Returning on the 24th June for a 60-hour session, Gary Vaughan and Gary Constable targeted the Cats with many successes, including 15 x Cats:

  • Gary V – 5 x Cats weighing 34lbs 12ozs, 2 x 19lbs, 7lbs 9ozs and 6lbs 12ozs plus Commons of 16lbs 3ozs, 12lbs 1oz, 10lbs 3ozs, 8lbs 10ozs and 8lbs.

  • Gary C – 10 x Cats weighing 34lbs 2ozs, 33lbs 11ozs, 28lbs 12ozs, 22lbs 3ozs, 16lbs 11ozs, 16lbs, 14lbs 6ozs and 3 x kittens plus Commons of 3 x 12lbs and 7lbs.  

• It was Commons only when Mark and Sue Rogers visited on the 27th June and using sweetcorn landed:

  • Sue – 17lbs

  • Mark – 14lbs 140zs and 11lbs 7ozs

Lake 3 (Mixed) Logbook Catch Reports

• Frank Shaxted visited on the 4th June and together with daughter Grace landed 7 x Commons weighing from 8lbs to 13lbs plus 4 x Mirrors from 7lbs to 12lbs where Manilla boilie was the successful bait.

• Paul O’Flynn and Harry Woods arrived on the 6th June for a short break and both had successes including weights of:

  • 6th June

    • Paul – a 3lbs 10zs Bream, Roach and Rudd

    • Chris – Commons of 4lbs 3ozs and 3lbs 13ozs, a 3lbs 3ozs Bream, a 2lbs 11ozs Tench plus Roach and Rudd

  • 7th June

    • Paul – Commons of 6lbs 9ozs and 4lbs 15ozs, Bream of 3lbs 15ozs, 3lbs 7ozs and 3lbs 5ozs plus Tench of 2lbs 12ozs and 1lb 11ozs.

    • Chris – Roach, Rudd

  • 8th June

    • Paul – Commons of 8lbs 1oz, 6lbs 12ozs and 1lb 4ozs; a 3lbs 1oz Bream and Tench of 2lbs 3ozs and 2lbs 2ozs.

    • Chris – Commons of 9lbs 8ozs and 6lbs 8ozs plus a 3lbs 12ozs Bream using Robin Red pellet baits and a method feeder.

• Graham and Tina Payne returned on the 11th June and their catch included weights of:

  • Graham – 7 x Commons from 1lb 8ozs to 10lbs, a 3lbs Mirror and a 2lbs Bream

  • Tina – 3 x Commons from 2lbs to 6lbs, a 3lbs Tench and 6 x Rudd

• Visiting on the 12th June Duncan Brown used bread baits and landed 12 x Commons weighing from 5lbs to 9lbs.

• First time visitor Andrew Matcham had a successful session on the 13th June and using a method feeder his catch included:

  • 12 x Commons from 5lbs to 12lbs

  • 9 x Mirrors from 6lbs to 7lbs

  • 7 x Tench to 4lbs 8ozs

• Adam Maxted and son James arrived on the 16th June for a short break and had many successes fishing all three lakes:

  • 16th June – Lake 3 (Mixed)

    • Using bread and maggot baits 3 x Commons to low double and 3 x Mirrors to low double plus many Rudd.

  • 17th June – Lake 3 (Mixed)

    • Using bread and maggot baits 6 x Commons all around 5lbs and a 5lbs Mirror plus many Rudd and Roach.

  • 17th June – Lake 1 (Carp)

    • 14lbs 8ozs Common

• Returning on the 21st June Andrew Matcham had another successful visit landing 16 x Commons weighing from 4lbs to 10lbs plus a 7 lbs Mirror and a good Perch weighing 2lbs  on prawn.

• Rod and Marilyn Daniels returned for a short break on the 24th June and both were soon having many successes using krill pellet baits:

    • 9 x Commons on pellet baits weighing 8lbs 8ozs, 6lbs 10ozs, 3 x 5lbs 8ozs, 5lbs, 4lbs 6ozs, 4lbs and 1lb 8ozs plus a 8lbs 2ozs Mirror.

  • 27th June – Lake 3 (Mixed)

    • 3 x Commons on sweetcorn weighing 5lbs 8ozs, 5lbs and 3lbs 8ozs.

  • 28th June – Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) – using Source boilie baits Alan’s catch included:

    • 4 x Catfish weighing 25lbs, 16lbs, 13lbs 8ozs abd 11lbs

    • 4 x Carp weighing up to 9lbs 8ozs

  • 29th June – Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) using Source boilie baits Alan’s catch included:

    • 11 x Carp to 14lbs 8ozs plus a 7lbs 8ozs Cat.
