2021 Leader Board Winners

Increasing Lake 2 Break Offs
Due to the Cats being heavy and strong, break offs can be experienced and even when using lines stronger than the minimum 20lbs breaking strain required. It will be well worth while replacing your line for the 2022 season. An abrasion resistant monofilament is recommended and a brand you may wish to consider is Berkley Trilene Mono XL which is also sensibly priced:
Berkley Trilene Mono XL
Breaking Strain – 25lbs
Colour – Clear
Length – 270 yards
Diameter – 0.40 mm
Typical Price - £12.90 plus P & P
Berkley Trilene Mono XL
Breaking Strain – 30lbs
Colour – Clear
Length – 250 yards
Diameter – 0.45 mm
Typical Price - £8.47 plus P & P
A growing number of Cats have also been lost due to the straightening of poor-quality hooks. Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) hooks should be barbless and forged (not wire or Cat hooks). A strong hook with a larger eye than most brands, that eases tying a knotless knot, can be sourced from Wicked Rigs (Hand Made in the UK)
These hooks are competitively priced and Wicked Rigs is an eBay seller (kevash123uk). The eBay ID is: 19230188053
