COVID-19
The Angling Trust (https://anglingtrust.net/covid-19/) submitted a case to government for the early and full resumption of all forms of angling including night fishing and competitions. This has been permitted under the daily exercise rules and as with all aspects of the coronavirus restrictions, no groups are allowed so please keep well away from fellow anglers.
Should there be a COVID-19 “Lockdown” prior to your arrival, we will contact you to discuss returning monies paid or if you choose, retain your monies for a 2022 visit at 2021 rates. Keep well and keep safe.
2021 Membership
Manor Fisheries is a 100% Members only Fishery for all anglers aged 18 years old or more. To apply for 2021 Membership, visit https://www.manor-fisheries.co.uk/night-fishing.
There are two Membership 2021 (Jan to Dec) categories and numbers are strictly limited:
Member - can fish any lake. Membership fee is £35.00 – FULL.
Lake 3 Member - limited to fishing Lake 3. Membership fee is £15.00.

Each Member has been provided a copy of our Rules and FAQ which are also available via our website. When making a reservation for fishing, a Member also confirms the Rules have been read and understood. Therefore, there is no excuse for a Member to contravene the Rules.

During the first 47-days since opening on the 13th March, it is obvious that some new Members and even some previous Members, have not read or possibly understood our Rules.

A selection of recent rule breaking is shown below noting most have occurred on Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish):
Non-payment of confirmed reservations – Rule 1.
Before making a reservation be totally confident that you can keep to it as it is chargeable
Introduction of fish bait – Rule 5.
Spodding – Rule 5.
Use of bolt rigs (non-running ledgers) – Rule 6.
Use of barbed / Cat hooks – Rule 6.
Use of unsuitable rod and line – Rule 6.

As we move into the more active part of our season, we will have no option but to cancel Membership for any Member contravening the Rules – there can be no debate, excuse or exception.
While discussing Rules and multiple issues:
Please do not leave behind any litter including cigarette ends.
Keep to the correct arrival 7am/7pm departure times.
Recognise reservations need to be 48 hours in advance – not at the last minute.
Recognise reservations can only be up to month-4 ahead – no queue jumping.
Avoid unnecessary damage to Swims.
Do not use lead clips.
No unattended rods.
No undersized landing nets…………...…

Fishing Report – 1st April 2021 to 30th April 2021
Summary
At last Spring is on the way and Martins, Swallows and Cuckoos have all returned. In addition, there are now young Moorhens, Mallards plus Canadian and Greylag geese all around the lakes. April was unusually dry and the coldest April since records began which has held back fish moving and feeding freely as expected. Nevertheless, although catches have been a little sporadic, there have been notable landings including 4 x 20lbs plus Carp and 11 x 40lbs plus Catfish.
Of special note we congratulate:
Terry Simmons who heads the 2021 Carp Leader Board with a 25lbs 2ozs Mirror
Steve Hall who heads the 2021 Catfish Leader Board with a 46lbs 8ozs Cat.
Matthew Smith having rediscovered fishing after 35 years away from fishing now heads the 2021 Tench Leader Board with a 4lbs 6ozs Tench.
Nigel Gillard who during an extended visit, including his birthday, targeted the Cats and landed 4 x “40’s”.
Lake 1 (Carp) Logbook Catch Reports
The 1st April proved successful for Terry Simmons and Terry Simmons Snr when using strawberry cream boilies over halibut pellet plus spicy crab goo baits. Congratulations to Terry Simmons with a great start to April and catching a 25lbs 2ozs Mirror to top the 2021 Carp Leader Board while Terry Simmons Snr ended the day with a 16lbs 8ozs Common.
Visiting on the 4th April Kelvin Collins landed a 13lbs Common where squid boilie was the successful bait.
Simon Rasho used yellow pop-up baits on the 4th April and finished with a hi-single and a mid-double Common.
First time visitor Ryan Carter visited on the 4th April for a 36 hour session, which included a very chilly night, and using a variety of baits including squid wafter, cream boilie tipped with fake pink corn and pink citrus cultured pop-up; landed Commons weighing 23lbs 3ozs and 15lbs 5ozs plus Mirrors weighing 17lbs 8ozs and 10lbs.
Regular Terence Hare targeted the Carp on the 6th April and using a pacific tina boilie plus a cell floats bait, landed a 15lbs 4ozs Mirror.
Using strawberry boilie baits on the 10th April produced 6 x Carp for William Staines including Commons weighing 15lbs 7ozs and 13lbs plus Mirrors weighing 15lbs, 14lbs, 12lbs and 11lbs.
Chris Hollamby caught a fully scaled Mirror weighing 12lbs 3ozs on the 11th April.
Toby Ryland arrived on the 12th April for a short break and alternating between fruit and krill boilie baits was soon amongst the Carp including:
Commons weighing 17lbs 8ozs, 14lbs 8ozs, 13lbs 2ozs and 11lbs
Mirrors weighing 14lbs 8ozs and 12lbs
Kieran Wright arrived on the 14th of April for a cold 24-hour session and using krill bait landed Mirrors weighing 20lbs 6ozs, 16lbs 7ozs and 15lbs 4ozs,
Barry Thorne used marine and squid boilies on the 17th April and landed 3 x Carp including 13lbs and 2 x 12lbs.
Visiting on the 18th April Gary Stephens landed a 16lbs 8ozs Common.
Arriving on the 20th April for a short break, John King landed Carp weighing 15lbs and 14lbs 6ozs and on Lake 3 (Mixed) 2 x 5lbs Carp where pellet was the successful bait plus 20 x Roach/Rudd/Perch on maggot.
Returning on the 21st April regular Bryan Butler used luncheon meat and squid boilie baits and landed 3 x Commons weighing 2 x 15lbs and 15lbs 8ozs.
Stuart Wood visited on the 23rd April and landed a Common weighing 17lbs 10ozs.
Visiting on the 24th April Danny Donnelly caught a 14lbs Common.
Beginning his 24 hour session on the 24th April, Joe Burke targeted the Carp and was soon rewarded with landing 5 x Commons weighing 19lbs 5ozs, 19lbs 2ozs, 15lbs, 14lbs 2ozs and 13lbs 4ozs.
It was a cold and windy 24 hour session when regular Pat O’Sullivan returned on the 25th April and landed Carp weighing 19lbs 8ozs and 12lbs 4ozs.
Robert Mannering landed a 13lbs 8ozs Common during his visit on the 29th April.
It was his first visit when Dan Carlisle arrived on the 29th April for a 24-hour session and using a Pacific tuna dumbbell bait landed a 20lbs Common.

Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) Logbook Catch Reports
It was a cold night when Chris Cook arrived on the 2nd April for his 48 hour session which resulted in Cats weighing 27lbs, 25lbs and 22lbs. Chris was joined by Paul Lewis on the 3rd April for a 36 hour session and finished with a 35lbs Cat.
Returning on the 6th April Paul Teakle landed a 38lbs Cat using squid bait.
With a cold wind blowing Paul Black plus budding young angler Dan visited on the 6th April and using halibut pellet caught a 22lbs 10ozs Cat.
When David and James Hare arrived on the 7th April for their 24 hour session, and David landed Cats weighing 35lbs and 28lbs while James had a Cat weighing 27lbs.

It was a cold session when Ray Hillier visited on the 9th April and used luncheon meat to lure a 26lbs 8ozs Cat.
Was the target “Quantity” or “Quality” when Philip Williams and Steve Hall arrived on the 9th April for their 36 hour session? Philip finished with 7 x Cats weighing 39lbs, 2 x 38lbs, 33lbs, 31lbs, 25lbs and 15lbs while Steve who now tops the 2021 Catfish Leader Board with 46lbs 8ozs landed a second Cat weighing 42lbs?
Dan Brown and Matt Griffiths arrived on the 12th April for their 24 hour session to experience a freezing night (-3°C) and using boilies baits had successes including:
Dan – 2 x Cats weighing 41lbs 8ozs and 36lbs
Matt – 2 x Cats weighing 25lbs and 15lbs
Phil Collins began his 48 hour session on the 13th April and using 22mm halibut pellet bait landed a 38lbs 13ozs Cat plus a 10lbs 4ozs Common which fell to 15mm Robin Red.
Paul and Mick Jenkins visited on the 14th April and using halibut pellet bait caught a 16lbs Cat.
Arriving on the 15th April for a cold 36 hour session Gary Sewell used luncheon meat bait and was rewarded with a 33lbs PB Cat.
Stuart and James Cambridge arrived on the 17th April for their 36 hour session to experience a freezing night and using halibut pellet and luncheon meat baits had successes including:
Stuart – 2 x Cats weighing 36lbs and 26lbs.
James – a Cat weighing 19lbs.
Returning on the 17th April Bryan Butler landed a 27lbs Cat using halibut pellet bait.
Regular Colin Monk returned on the 19th April and using halibut pellet bait landed a 35lbs 2ozs Cat.
During a warmer 20th April regulars Terry Hare and Paul Teakle returned and targeted the Cats using squid and halibut pellet baits with good results including:
Terry – 7 x Cats weighing 43lbs 12ozs PB, 32lbs 4ozs, 31lbs, 30lbs, 25lbs 8ozs, 22lbs 8ozs and 22lbs.
Paul – 2 x Cats weighing 39lbs and 30lbs.
Alfie and Tommy Marriner plus Sean Fletcher arrived on the 23rd April for a 24 hour session and all had success targeting the Cats:
Sean – Cat weighing 36lbs using Cell
Alfie – Cats weighing 32lbs, 24lbs 8ozs and 18lbs using Cell krill snowman plus a 16lbs Common
Tommy – Cat weighing 28lbs using a combo bait
Regular Robin Moyser began his 72-hour session on the 23rd April and finished with Cats weighing 36lbs 13ozs, 30lbs 15ozs, 24lbs 14ozs and a kitten plus a 3lbs Carp.
Regular Nigel Gillard also arrived on the 23rd April for a 120-hour session, including his birthday, to target the Cats. Although the sport was slow the result was Quality over Quantity with a 5 x Cat catch including weights of 44lbs 6ozs, 43lbs 12ozs, 43lbs 4ozs, 41lbs 12ozs and 32lbs 8ozs – an average of 41lbs 2ozs per Cat.
Arriving on the 24th of April for a 24-hour session, William Staines used halibut pellet bait to catch a 33lbs Cat.
Regular Paul Teakle Christened his new bivvy during his 24-hour session beginning the 26th April and had success with squid bait, landing 5 x Cats weighing 42lbs 4ozs, 39lbs 12ozs, 37lbs 8ozs, 36lbs 4ozs and 25lbs.
It was another “40” for Terry Hare on a sunnier 27th April. Squid was the successful bait to lure his Cat weighing 43lbs 1ozs.
Spring was trying to arrive on the 27th April when Eric Scott visited and added a 42lbs Cat to his growing list “40’s”.
Roger Simmons and Ian Usher visited on the 29th April and their catch included:
Roger – 1 x Cat weighing 23lbs 8ozs.
Ian – 2 x Cats weighing 29lbs 8ozs and 24lbs 4ozs.
Arriving for his 24-hour session on the 29th April Roy Binks used Robin Red baits to lure 2 x Cats weighing 39lbs and 35lbs 8ozs.
Lake 3 (Mixed) Logbook Catch Reports
Having rediscovered fishing after 35 years away from fishing, Matthew Smith used a waggler float and mixed maggot bait or feeder rod with great success:
1st April - Tench weighing 3lbs 12ozs, 3lbs 4ozs and 2lbs 2ozs plus 27 x Roach and Rudd
7th April - Tench weighing 3lbs 3ozs and 2lbs 8ozs plus a 4lbs 1oz bream.
9th April - 19 x Roach and Rudd, a 9lbs 4ozs PB Common and Tench weighing 2lbs 7ozs and 4lbs 2ozs PB to top the 2021 Tench Leader Board.
13th April - a 7lbs 2ozs Common, a 2lbs 11ozs Tench, a 12ozs Roach and Bream weighing 3lbs 2ozs and 2lbs 8ozs
18th April - 41 x Rudd/Roach/Perch to 1lb 6ozs, Tench weighing 3lbs 2ozs and 2lbs 14ozs plus 3 x Bream weighing 4lbs 1oz, 3lbs 8ozs and 3lbs 4ozs.
28th April - 40 x Rudd/Roach/Perch to 1lb 2ozs, Tench weighing 3lbs 6ozs, 3lbs 2ozs, 2lbs 14ozs and 2lbs 8ozs plus 4lbs 6ozs Bream and a 6lbs 3ozs Common.
30th April – 4 x Tench weighing 4lbs 6ozs new PB to top the 2021 Tench Leader Board, 3lbs 8ozs, 3lbs 1oz and 2lbs 6ozs plus a 7lbs 8ozs Common, a 8lbs 14ozs Mirror and 3 x small Perch.
During his first time visit on the 8th April Brian Madden landed a 5lbs Bream using his feeder rod plus a couple of Rudd on his float rod using maggot bait.
Regular Andy Worf returned on the 20th April and landed a 6lbs Common.
Returning on the 20th April, Terry and James Crank used sweetcorn baits and caught Mirrors weighing 9lbs 13ozs, 6lbs 10ozs and 5lbs 11ozs plus Bream weighing4lbs 9ozs, 4lbs 6ozs and 4lbs 3ozs.
Roger Simmons and Steve Cook visited on the 21st April and landed Tench and Carp weighing:
Roger – Tench of 2lbs 8ozs and Carp of 6lbs
Steve – 2 x Tench and Carp of 6lbs
Neil Cordier returned on the 22nd April and caught 20 x Roach/Rudd and 6 x Perch using maggot bait plus a Carp using luncheon meat.
The fishing was slow on the 24th April when Andy Bush using his pole and prawn bait landed a 5lbs Carp.
Visiting on the 29th April Stephen Cook landed 5 x Tench ranging from 2lbs 8ozs to 3lbs, a 4lbs bream and 2 x Carp.
2021 Awards and Competitions
2021 - PIN Awards
Every angler is awarded a PIN when meeting the qualifying weight to commemorate catching their first Manor Fisheries specimen fish and for each species shown below:
2021 - Leader Board
The 2021 Leader Board competition will run throughout our 2021 Season and commenced on Saturday 13th March 2021. Prizes will be awarded for the following specimens caught by or on Sunday 10th October 2021 and in the event these “Target weights” are not met, the prizes below will be awarded for the heaviest verified Carp, Catfish and Tench specimens recorded in the Cabin Logbook:
£50.00 for the first verified 50lbs+ Catfish
£50.00 for the first verified 30lbs+ Carp
£50.00 for the first verified 8lbs+ Tench
Please ensure Cats weighing over 30lbs and Carp over 20lbs are recorded in the Cabin Logbook, as this forms the basis of our Monthly News Report and provides valuable input to our lake management plans.
2021 - 1,000lbs Club
Every angler landing 1,000lbs or more in a single contiguous session will awarded becoming a member of the prodigious Manor Fisheries 1,000lbs Club.
