From Autumn to Sun to Winter
During this late autumnal November, I travelled to a warm Mexico to return early to a freezing December. Following a longish flight via Dallas to San Jose del Cabo and via road to Los Barriles, Baja California; I joined my sons Clive and Iain for a holiday that included four full days of sea fishing. The travel, accommodation and fishing were all again superbly arranged by Sportquest Travel (also see website at NEWS Jan’16 - Belize and Feb’12 – Costa Rica).
Our fishing plans were to try catching game fish such as Dorado, Billfish or Roosterfish and the evenings sampling great local food, Corona, IPA and finishing with a few frames of pool.
With excitement high, each morning we boarded our boat at around 6.30 am to meet our experienced Captain and skilled deck hand. Before departing each morning we discussed and set a plan for each 8 hour adventure. With the noon temperature around 82°+F we divided our time between fishing inshore some 100 to 200 yards from the beach and venturing offshore some 10 to 15 miles to blue water.
The results of trolling fish baits (Bonito and Skipjack) plus large plugs offshore proved successful and hectic sport resulted from using sardine fish baits inshore:
Cabin Log Book
